As WSPY reported on Friday, the Illinois State Crime Commission selected Kendall County Sheriff Dwight Baird as Illinois Sheriff of the Year for 2021.
Sheriff Baird has been in office since 2014. He has also served as the Oswego Police Chief.
WSPY News spoke with Sheriff Baird on Friday night, who asked about his reaction after being named Illinois’ Sheriff of the Year.
In its statement, the Illinois State Crime Commission cited Sheriff Baird’s work with implementing education programs in the Kendall County Jail. The sheriff spoke of these efforts.
The Illinois State Crime Commission also commended Sheriff Baird for his efforts in creating a new domestic violence team with State Attorney Eric Weis and board member d County Administration Robyn VIckers.
Sheriff Baird spoke about the Domestic Violence Team.
And Sheriff Baird commended Kendall County Council for its efforts to support the sheriff’s office.
Sheriff Baird will receive his “Sheriff of the Year” award on November 4 at Orland Park.
