Evertz Showcases Its Format-Agnostic Broadcast Infrastructure Solutions at NAB 2022

Burlington, Canada – March 21, 2022: As the industry continues its transition from SDI to all-IP infrastructures, Evertz is using its NAB 2022 platform to highlight a range of products that enable broadcast facilities, theaters and stadiums to take advantage of the latest UHD technology ( 4K and 8K), regardless of the type of signal they use.

With a product line that supports both 12G-SDI and SMPTE ST 2110 signals, Evertz customers can keep a foot in both camps without sacrificing the quality, flexibility or stability of their workflows. This hybrid approach also allows facility operators to maximize purchases of existing SDI equipment before moving completely into new territory.

At NAB 2022, Evertz will showcase end-to-end IP-based solutions around its software-defined video networking (SDVN) portfolio, which has now been installed in more than 500 broadcast facilities worldwide. Designed to simplify workflow, reduce operational costs and increase efficiency, Evertz’s award-winning systemMAGNUM OS The Orchestration and Control System has developed new tools to address the complexities of large IP deployments in outdoor broadcast (OB) trucks, remote and large-scale broadcast facilities, and multi-location installations. New learnings from these installations have further evolved the bandwidth management of MAGNUM OS to move and manage large volumes of SMPTE ST 2110 signals, including critical PTP signals, to and from devices spread across multiple installations, using 25/50/100/400GbE network connection. Fully compatible with NMOS specifications, MAGNUM OS makes it easy to discover and manage Evertz or third-party devices. Employer VIEW As an operational and control interface (as a desktop panel or a web interface accessible from anywhere), MAGNUM OS can provide comprehensive real-time analysis of all devices and signal flows within an IP network.

Another key component of Evertz’s IP infrastructure is versatile and reliable core switching, and to that end the company is introducing its recently introduced NATX32/64-100G Network Address Translation Router. Operating as an extension of Evertz’s family of EXE and IPX routing platforms, the single-rack NAT-X unit offers the power of IP with the simplicity of SDI. With built-in boundary clock support, Layer 3 functionality, and 256 25GbE ports, NAT-X can dynamically configure and translate over 32,000 real-time unicast and multicast signals. NAT-X merges traditional networking with SDN networking by supporting the operating system’s MAGNUM Orchestration for full control of high-bandwidth broadcast video, audio, and data signals in an easy, scalable, and reliable way. MAGNUM recognizes new signal entry points, immediately discovers the multicast space, and passes it to NAT-X to perform real-time translation to assemble a complete end-to-end NAT stream. NAT-X is also ideal for remote deployments where multicast addresses can be preconfigured without knowing the endpoint address before arriving on site. Unlike other “off-the-shelf” networking devices that require extensive computer knowledge and programming experience, NAT-X is a plug-and-play 25/100GbE fabric switch, customized to operate from seamlessly in a broadcast environment.

For 12G-SDI routing solutions, Evertz introduces NEXX, a UHD/4K router designed to be compact and robust. With its modular framework, redundant control, full native audio mixing, and ability to leverage additional licensed features, NEXX is ideal for small to midsize routing environments such as regional broadcast facilities and OB trucks. Additionally, NEXX offers an integrated, software-enabled multiviewer with over 30 pre-configured layouts and uses internal Evertz X-LINK signaling to stay penalty-free and avoid unnecessary output usage. NEXX has been designed to accept the future I/O module for uncompressed IP and SMPTE ST 2110, providing a pathway to integrate future technology, protect investment and ensure the platform can grow as customers need it. clients.

ev670-X30-HW-V2 continues to support 12G/3G/HD-SDI and IP interfaces, but has added new applications (APPS) that can be configured on the platform’s FPGA-based processing cores to provide multiviewers, gateway and video, audio and auxiliary data processing functionality for SDI and IP.

The cVIP and sVIP multiviewers are specifically designed for cloud-based projects, especially those originating from large-scale events. cVIP is designed for live production in the cloud, leveraging a wide range of on-premises Intel-based hardware options or cloud hardware platforms for multi-display and monitoring needs, while sVIP combines the computing power of FPGAs, CPUs, and GPUs to allow customers to take advantage of data center-class servers (Evertz or customer-provided) without sacrificing density and performance. Integrated with Evertz’s MAGNUM operating system, cVIP and sVIP allow remote operators to receive large video, audio and multi-frame data information without overloading the network.
