Microsoft will soon allow Teams web users to add background effects and share system audio

Microsoft is working on a few new features for Teams web users that should further improve the user experience.

According to a new entry on Microsoft 365 roadmap, the Redmond giant will soon allow Teams users to add background effects to video calls. Microsoft first introduced replaceable backgrounds in 2019, followed by custom background images that were added last year. The next update will finally allow Teams web users to take advantage of the feature. Microsoft notes that it will allow users to blur backgrounds or use a background image. It is not clear if the company will allow users to download images from their system. The ability to change the background will be available to Teams web users in September 2021.

When using Teams on the web, you can either blur your background or replace it entirely with the images provided during your video conference or call. Note: Blurring or replacing your background may not prevent sensitive information from being visible to others during the call or meeting.

On the way, Microsoft is also working on the possibility of sharing system audio during the presentation.. This feature will allow users to easily share their system audio and can be useful when sharing media content while on a call. The feature is expected to roll out to Teams web users in October 2021.

Microsoft Teams has come a long way since its launch, and the company is constantly working on improving it for users. With Windows 11, Microsoft integrates Teams directly into the operating system for a better experience.
