The Best Modular Kitchen Sources to Build Your Dream Kitchen

Let’s face it: renovating a kitchen doesn’t come cheap. And more often than not, it’s an arduous process that takes months (or years, with today’s delays!). But if you’re looking to upgrade your kitchen setup as soon as possible, we might have the solution for you: modular kitchens.

Long popular in Europe, where small houses often mean more — uh, Creative layouts, modular kitchens are sold as rearrangeable pieces (think: a counter block on a single cabinet, one that can sit on top of a dishwasher, another block with a sink…you get the idea) that can be positioned to suit your kitchen. Essentially it is a semi-custom kitchen with only part of the price of a fully bespoke option. From home retailers to hyper-specific kitchen manufacturers, there are plenty of sources for modular kitchen units to suit your budget, style, and cooking needs. Read on for some of our favorites.

A modular kitchen OG, IKEA has been selling customizable kitchens for decades. With the Swedish retailer, there are two routes you can take: work with an IKEA team member to create a completely bespoke kitchen or buy modular pieces a la carte.

VIP

This Swedish supplier began when founder Holger Nielsen’s quest to create the perfect receptacle for his wife’s hair salon resulted in a now-iconic trash can. Some 70 years later, Vipp still manufactures this bin, along with two luxury kitchen designs – the V1, above, and the V2, all available as modular pieces. Not sure which modules are right for you? Use the brand’s handy kitchen configurator to see what will fit.

If you’re looking to go as high-end as possible for your dream kitchen, this Italian brand will give you a space worthy of a Michelin chef. Scavolini offers over 20 kitchen designs, with styles ranging from sleek minimal to rustic industrial. Each design has coordinated accessories with special attention paid to storage and practicality.

SieMatic, on the other hand, keeps it simple with its deluxe options. Choose from one of three styles – sheer, urban or classic – then customize it to your liking with a host of color and material options.
