WWE’s Sonya Deville and AEW’s Anthony Bowens Unite at GLAAD Event

WWE Superstar Sonya Deville and AEW’s Anthony Bowens delighted fans after they were photographed together at a GLAAD event on Thursday (February 10) night.

SmackDown General Manager Deville and Bowens of The Acclaimed both attended A Night of Pride with GLAAD and NFL in Los Angeles.

Deville had her arm in a sling after being attacked by Ronda Rousey on last week’s SmackDown.

The WWE and AEW crossover led Bowens to joke on Twitter that they had walked through the “forbidden door” on the red carpet.

Bowens wrote, “Who knew the forbidden door led to the GLAAD red carpet…we’re watching,” along with a flame emoji. The “forbidden door” is the term used by wrestling fans for wrestlers signed to one company appearing for another.

On Twitter, Anthony shared more photos from the event, posing alongside partner Michael Pavano and writing, “Thank you @glaad and the @NFL for inviting @michaelpavano and me to this amazing event last night celebrating LGBTQ inclusion in professional sports.

“I keep saying it, visibility is key. Shout out to @AEW for supporting their LGBTQ artists and letting everyone be themselves.”

In March 2020, Deville spoke to digital spy why it was important to her to be WWE’s first openly gay female Superstar.

“I felt it was important to be that person so that more people could follow me, be it guys or girls from the LGBTQ+ community who will now feel comfortable coming into the company. and knowing that Sonya is gay and that’s okay,” she mentioned.

“I just wanted to be that kind of strength in numbers, that support system for someone who might feel the same things I do.”
